Little London

A small village of about 120 properties on the southern edge of Pamber Forest.

One suggestion for its name is that Londoners escaping the plague could originally have occupied it.   It is more likely to be a corruption of the Little Loddon River, more usually known as the Bow Brook.

The village was originally a small hamlet comprising a few farms, 2 public houses and farm workers dwellings.

In the 19th Century there were two brickyards either side of the road near to The Plough, continuing a tradition dating from Roman times.
